Hesquiaht to Toquaht Shoreline Clean Up

Funded by the Clean Coast Clean Waters (CCCW) initiative, Rugged Coast led a shoreline cleanup from Hesquiaht Harbour to Toquaht Bay that was jointly implemented with the Tla-o-qui-aht, Toquaht, Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ, Hesquiaht, Ahousaht First Nations, Coastal Restoration Society and BC Parks.

Debris was removed daily by boat or cached above the high water line for longline removal by helicopter. 161 kilometres of shoreline was cleaned by crews in July and August 2022 with a total of 11,700 kg of debris removed from the marine environment, of which 7,800 kg was recycled and 473 kg was upcycled.
