Deer Group Archipelago Shoreline Clean Up
RCRS collaborated with Huu-ay-aht First Nation in October 2021 on a remote shoreline debris cleanup in the Deer Group Archipelago near Bamfield, on the west coast of Vancouver Island. This project was funded through the Clean Coast Clean Waters (CCCW) initiative.
With the dedicated help of the Huu-ay-aht Warriors youth program, this project removed 4,250kgs of hazardous marine debris from 21 kilometres of hard-to-reach beaches and surge channels of this sensitive habitat.
Thanks to the Huu-ay-aht Warriors for their welcoming attitude and deep appreciation for their local waters.
We’d also like to thank Coastal Restoration Society for their overall administration of this portion of the CCCW initiative and our hard-working team of technicians.
